1: Never Skied/Snowboarded
- Has never skied or snowboarded before, or has only tried it once and is unfamiliar with basic techniques.
2: Novice
- Has skied or snowboarded a few times and is comfortable on the easiest green runs. Can make basic wedge turns (skiing) or falling leaf (snowboarding) but struggles with balance and stopping.
3: Advanced Beginner
- Comfortable on all green runs and beginning to explore easy blue runs. Can link wedge turns (skiing) or perform basic turns (snowboarding) but lacks confidence on steeper terrain.
4: Lower Intermediate
- Confident on blue runs. Can link parallel turns (skiing) or S-turns (snowboarding) consistently but may struggle with steeper or icier conditions.
5: Intermediate
- Comfortable on all blue runs and some easy black runs. Can handle moderate speed and a variety of snow conditions but may have difficulty with moguls, trees, or off-piste terrain.
6: Upper Intermediate
- Proficient on all blue and black runs. Can ski or snowboard confidently at higher speeds and in most snow conditions, including moderate moguls, trees, and some off-piste terrain.
7: Advanced
- Confident on all black runs, including steep and icy sections. Can ski or snowboard aggressively in various conditions, including moguls, trees, and some off-piste terrain.
8: Expert
- Highly skilled in all aspects of skiing or snowboarding. Comfortable on any black diamond terrain, including very steep, narrow, or icy runs, and challenging off-piste conditions.
9: Advanced Expert
- Can handle all double black diamond terrain with ease, including extreme slopes, tight chutes, and variable snow conditions. Can perform advanced techniques such as carving, short turns, navigating tight trees, or executing advanced tricks (snowboarding).
10: Professional
- Top-level skier or snowboarder capable of handling any terrain in any condition, including extreme off-piste and backcountry. Has mastered all technical skills and can perform advanced tricks, jumps, and maneuvers.
